improv-ing columbus
since 2002

It sizzles, it crackles, it sputters - it's Fake Bacon improv comedy! One of Columbus' longest active troupes, Fake Bacon continues to hysterify audiences with its signature short form improv. No scripts here, just 9 over-active minds acting out scenes you never thought should even exist - but you'll be happy they did.

Come see us the second Thursday of each month at Jimmy V's in Grandview (7pm sharp). You'll walk away with a full belly and a big ol' smile. We’re also at the Garden Theater in the Short North on the last Tuesday of each month (8PM). You can find us at a number of other events around town, as well. Check out all of our upcoming shows below.

Alex Lefeld

Alex Lefeld is an acting and improv veteran who has trained at Second City TC in Chicago, SAK Comedy in Orlando, and Co-Founded Fishbowl Improv at Ohio State University. Alex graduated with a BA in Theatre from OSU with specialized training in acting, movement, voice and improv. Alex is also an award winning actor whose acting students have gone on to sign with acting agencies in Chicago, Los Angeles and New York City. In the evenings he works to hone his skill of eagle whispering. He is also a liar... sometimes.

Jason Sudy

Jason Sudy is a founding member of Fake Bacon, which means he’s been improv-ing around town for almost 10 years. He’s been acting since he was a kid, back when his parents operated a dinner theater (really? yep!) in the greater Cleveland area. He is also active with MadLab Theatre and Mr. Woosley’s OGP, popping up as an actor, director or producer every so often. Jason has been a member of the ImprovEdge ensemble for 3 years, providing improvisation-based corporate coaching all around the country. By day, Jason is a mild mannered city planner with his own firm downtown.

Katie Drown

Katie Drown is a singer, improvisor, actress and business lady. She got her start in improv in 2011 when she joined Fishbowl, one of Ohio State's premier improv groups. She's studied short, mid and long form improv for the past 4 years. She also enjoys musical improv and sketch writing. Katie loves performing and is excited to be the newest member of Columbus' OG, Fake Bacon.

Isaiah Shalwitz

Isaiah Shalwitz is a founding member of Fake Bacon. He began taking improv classes at the same time he started working in Ohio politics. He quickly learned that he loves making stuff up, and therefore politics wasn’t quite a fit for him because he wasn’t Republican. Isaiah is a world traveler and has entertained people in over 11 foreign countries, many of whom seemingly didn’t even realize he was doing improv, he’s that good. By day Isaiah is a pharmaceutical kingpin and is very important.

Alex Dodge

Alex Dodge has been performing and teaching improv around the country for fifteen years. Alex is a former member the Baltimore Improv Group, where he performed with several main stage troupes and special projects, including Lekker and Population 6. He is a cast member of Unscripted, a full length improvised play, and of the shows Skinesthesia and The Movement, which performed at the American Visionary Art Museum. Alex has taught improv for the Baltimore Improv group, and at Indiana University and is the former artistic director of the Indiana Comedy Festival.

John Kuhn

John Kuhn is an actor and performer from Columbus, Ohio. He graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in Theatre in 1995 before studying miming with Marcel Marceau (I know, right?) and apprenticing at the world famous Bread and Puppet Theatre (wait, what?). He has performed improv for 25 years. The last time we checked, John does anywhere from 22-25 different dialects, but his favorites are Irish, Scottish and Eastern Kentucky. John is a proud single father of Aidan and Teague.

Noah Smith

Noah Philip Smith has been in Fake Bacon since 2013. He previously preformed improv with Capital University's Fat Tuesday Debutantes and studied improv at the UCB in New York. When not getting wacky with Fake Bacon, he works as a preschool teacher, where he learns that true comedy is about making silly faces and saying bathroom words. Noah has one wife and three cats.

Stephen Woosley

Stephen Woosley, actor, director, playwright, producer, denture wearer, has been appearing with Fake Bacon since starting as a fill-in back in 2009 or 2010. One of those. He has been performing improv since 2006 with MadLab Theatre's resident improv troupe, FFN. He is an ensemble member and board member with MadLab Theatre. He is also the co-founder and President of the theatre troupe, OGP. His better half is named Chloe... she's a cat.
